KK – Sandakan – (5 Days 4 Nights)

Day 1 – Full Day Kinabalu Park / Poring / Canopy Walk ( B/L )

Kinabalu Park / Poring Hot Spring / Canopy Walk

Take a scenic 2 hours’ drive to Kinabalu Park passing by villages along mountainous roads that wind along the Crocker range. Along the way, make a brief stop at Nabalu Market. Nabalu is a place where the local natives gather to sell local produce, fruits, home grown vegetables and handicraft souvenirs.

On arrival at Kinabalu Park, you will notice the change in air temperature. Enjoy the refreshing and cooling air as you proceed for a walk along the nature trails in the Botanical Garden. If the day is clear, you may even spot a majestic view of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain between the New Guinea and Himalaya. After the walk, depart for lunch at a local restaurant.

Later, depart for another interesting wonder, the Poring Hot Spring. At approximately 47 kilometres (1hour drive) from Kinabalu Park, Poring Hot Spring got its name from the tall bamboo plant that is abundant in that area. At this natural hot spring, there are Japanese baths where visitors can soak themselves and let the invigorating sulphurous water stimulate the body. It is believed to have curative powers. Visitors can also try the Canopy Walkway, where suspension bridges are suspended at the top of the tropical jungle. Experience the height of 41 metres above the ground and length of 157 metres. A 20 minutes hike is needed to reach the Canopy Walkway Return to Kota Kinabalu for an approximately 3 hours’ journey and drop off at your respective hotel.

Note: As Poring Hot Spring is a public area, you may expect big crowd of visitors and locals during weekends public holidays.

Day 2 : Full Day Island With Lunch ( B/L )

Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park – Tarp

08:20 hrs: Pick up form outskirt hotel
09:00 hrs: Pick up from hotel and transfer to jetty. Board a 15-minute ferry ride to one of the five stunning islands that make up the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, with excellent stretches of beaches and a good trail system around the island. With crystal-clear waters and a colourful marine life, this island is an excellent venue for all kinds of water sports. The whole day is yours to enjoy at your leisure, whichever way you prefer – picnicking, snorkelling, or just relaxing on the beach. Also included in the package is Packed Lunch. Spend the day for your own leisure: Go swimming, snorkelling or just laze yourself or suntan at the white sandy beach. After lunch, continue your free leisure time before departure. 1500 hrs: Board boat from island jetty to Kota Kinabalu mainland and transfer back to hotel.

DAY 3 : Sandakan / Orang Utan / City Tour ( B/L )

Morning transfer out to KKIA for Sandakan trip Early morning, transfer to airport to board a plane for Sandakan AA or FIREFLY visit the world’s largest Orang Utan Sanctuary. Flight by 7am Meet and greet at the Sandakan airport by 0730/0740hrs and drive for about half an hour to Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre where orphaned and injured Orang-Utan brought to Sepilok to be rehabilitated to return and fend for themselves back to the wild. Sepilok is a primary lowland forest; a fine showcase of Borneo’s remaining rainforest. Witness the 10:00AM feeding of Orang-Utan from a platform in the forest. Watch the 25 minutes scheduled video documentary show.

Stop at local restaurant for lunch and at 2:00 PM proceed for a city tour and explore the various landmarks of Sandakan, which may include the Central Market, the most amazing variety of fresh seafood and agricultural products, Sim-Sim Water Village where houses are all built close to the water surface while observing the fascinating view of the sea, visit Puh Jih Syh Buddhist Temple which offers a panoramic view of Sandakan Bay situated on the hilltop of Tanah Merah. After tour, transfer back to your hotel Check-in and rest.

Day 4 : Labuk Bay / RDC.

After breakfast, proceed to drive for about 45 minutes to Labuk Bay the mangrove forest covers about 400 acres for Proboscis sanctuary. Proceed to the observation area where visitors will have the delight of having a reasonably close and magnificent sight of these elusive monkeys which is one the most peculiar animal in the world and endemic to Borneo. Lunch at Local Restaurant and proceed to RDC Back to hotel around 4pm and rest.
